Win2k SP3

The Register picked up on these 2 important paragraphs from the SP3 License:

Microsoft may disclose this information to others, but not in a form that personally identifies you.

Now do you really want to install it? I did on one of my tests machines, but it will be reimaged tomorrow anyway. I’m guess that many of you want. Just another reason to hate MS.

Just Like You

Has anybody else noticed the new Just Like You service at Amazon.com. I hit it almost daily looking for my gold box and such and just noticed that. Whats really odd is that Camille and I both use the same account there so its like a split personality and it matches up with other people, perhaps they do the same thing we do. Anyway its interesting to look at.

IT Stuff

Its been quite the busy morning here. I come in a few minutes late , due to traffic. I’m pulled directly into a meeting about IT projects, with a list for the whole company. Several of the projects don’t effect me they are for the AS400 inventory systems that i don’t work on, but there were several of my projects that were not on the list. When i brought this up, well, they are “unofficial”, as in they don’t want anybody to know that they are being done. Thats all fine and good, but means that my list looks like i don’t have much work coming up. So I’ve been drumming up some “official” work all morning, i sent out a handful of who needs some Lotus Notes development done, 2 hours later, my schedule is full again :).

I finished setting up the new linux file server yesterday just waiting for the list of users, shares and permissions to be finished. When I installed the server i made sure is set it us as an SSH server and made sure the VNC server software was loaded. Testing it out this morning i SSHed into it and started a VNC session then connected with the VNCviewer for Win2K from ATT, works like a charm. So off comes the monitor, keyboard and mouse, gotta love that.

Logan’s Run, Again

I was talking to our graphics artist/designer here at work today, he is actually the only person i talk to about no work stuff on a regular basis, and Logan’s Run came up. He told me a few things that i didn’t know about, like the fact that it was filmed here in Dallas. I was amazed, i didn’t know that. He then went on to tell me that he designed one of the Logan’s run T Shirts that they had. He told me that when he gave them all the design they told him they weren’t going to use them. Then one day he saw somebody wearing one going down the street. He never got paid or got credit, but just knowing that it was done was pretty cool. I new this guy was a big Sci-fi freak like me but thats cool.
